At the vast majority of wedding receptions the entertainment usually consists of either a wedding DJ, a live band or both. However looking at the variety of acts the entertainment agencies feature, there’s a lot more choices available than those which usually spring to mind. For example, in addition to DJ’s or live bands, how about entertaining your guests with a magician? Before you think ‘magic show’, think again, as a mix & mingle magician performing close up slight of hand tricks will amaze and amuse guests of all ages. Working their way around the tables as the wedding disco is under way, a mix and mingle magician is perfect for keeping the non dancers entertained, and performing different tricks at different tables gives everybody a unique performance.

If you’re not a fan of magic how about having a caricature artist roam around the reception doing amusing sketches of you and your guests? The sketches could be the perfect addition to your photo album or something your guests can take home with them. Either way, a caricature artist will provide a unique and fun element to your wedding entertainment plans which gets everybody involved without being the centre of attention.

There are all kinds of live bands for weddings from rock and pop cover bands to tribute bands, jazz bands and even brass bands. For those who prefer their wedding entertainment to be a little more sedate, how about hiring a choral group to perform or maybe a harpist or classical guitar player? The live music at your wedding doesn’t have to be tired and tested batch of pop hits. However it’s also worth bearing in mind that just because you and your partner love live bands, performing jazz or rock for example, your guests may prefer something a little more mainstream, so you may have to compromise if you want to keep everyone happy.

If you’re thinking of wedding singers, how about a wedding singer with a difference? Imagine if the waitresses broke into song whilst serving your guests. This kind of act is growing in popularity as the element of surprise, coupled with a touch of comedy as a waiter or waitress suddenly announces they’re sick of serving and want to sing instead. Many wedding singers are becoming more and more creative with their acts and in some cases can arrive posing as police officers or members of the fire service threatening to shut down the party before beginning their performance.

It’s certainly more intriguing and entertaining than many of the usual live bands for weddings. The surprise element of these performances, along with their comedic presentation will give your guests something to talk about long after the big day. Giving your guests something different will certainly make your wedding a day to remember. All you have to remember is there’s more to wedding singers and wedding entertainment than meets the eye.

If you can afford to hire a children’s entertainer for your child’s birthday party, there is an astonishing variety of children’s entertainers designed to make your child’s party a memorable event for all the children who are lucky enough to be invited. You can find entertainers who can mix in some education and instruction along with the entertainment, as well as those who are just there to provide the fun and belly laughs. Some of the more common types of children’s entertainers are clowns, animal balloon makers, face painters, and puppeteers. These entertainers usually provide entertainment for very young children, from toddlers to first or second graders. Magicians are also very popular for birthday entertainment. Magic acts can be customized to entertain young children all the way up to pre-teens. Some of the magic acts are themed, and include comedy or music as well as magic. Musical acts are also very popular, and a musician with a guitar and a knack for improvisation can be very entertaining for youngsters. Musical acts can range from a soloist with a guitar or keyboard to an entire band that specializes in music that children enjoy. Often, the musical acts will include dancing for the children, or the opportunity to perform karaoke as part of the entertainment experience. Glamour and makeover parties have become very popular for girl’s birthday parties. The entertainer in this case is a beautician who gives each guest a new hairstyle and makeup application. For boys, sport themed parties that include games such as basketball or baseball with a trained athlete can take place at a local park. Character entertainers, who dress up like monsters or princesses, can be a great way to provide entertainment for your child’s party. There are cooking parties, ceramics and jewelry making parties, and other craft parties, all hosted by specialists in children’s entertainment. Cowboys can be hired for a western themed party, complete with ponies for the young guests to ride. Parents who really want to go all out and are not on a shoestring budget can hire an entire carnival for their child’s birthday party, complete with helicopter rides and inflatable moon walks. There are so many different types of children’s entertainers, and the list is always growing. For the lucky children whose parents hire entertainers for their parties, there is a children’s entertainer out there somewhere guaranteed to put a smile on every face

A karaoke birthday party for kids is good for those aged seven and above and is a great alternative to the usual birthday party that has clowns and games. Since karaoke singing is not just for adults why not plan your kid’s karaoke themed birthday party now?

What’s nice about a karaoke birthday party for kids is that they will readily appreciate this theme more if you have songs from stars they are ‘madly inlove’ with at the moment. To plan your kid’s next birthday celebration just follow these steps and a fun filled day for everyone will surely follow.

1. Prepare the karaoke machine with high quality karaoke speakers for good quality sound. You can choose to rent this out or buy a karaoke machine for kids with songs that have the latest songs from their favorite stars such as Justin Bieber as part of your gift.

2. Next comes the guest list in which you can ask your kids for a list of friends they’d also like to invite to the party. It is a fact that the youngest kids will bring their parents along which is good because now you can scan your guest list and ask one or two parents to help you out after all managing many kids is not that easy.

3. Decorations for your karaoke party for kids may be optional but a few suggestions are using decor that goes with the theme of the party. A few ideas for your theme could be a party inspired by a popular Disney movie such as Toy Story, Little Mermaid, Aladdin and many more.

You can also use a theme that is inspired by popular kiddie TV shows such as Sesame Street, Hannah Montana, or Camp Rock. Speaking of rock, you can even have a rockstar themed event where you decorate your party venue with things related to rockstars.

To give uniformity to the event, you can use the theme as a vehicle for the look and feel of your invitations. Of course these are optional since you can just call the parents of those kids and inform them of the party.

4. Prepare songs that come from the theme of your celebration because they are the songs that your kid loves listening and singing to. Of if you’re not sure what your kid likes, you can ask them what songs they would like to have for his or her birthday party.

5. If you would like to have a costume party you should inform your kids ahead of time what costumes they should wear so that they can prepare. For example, if the theme is Toy Story, you can have the kids dress according to their favorite character from that movie.

6. Think of the food that you’re going to prepare for your guests. They should be something that kids find delicious, include in the food preparations something for the parents too.

7. Set up the contest mechanics for the karaoke birthday party for kids and think of the prizes that you’re going to give to your party guests.

8. Think of the items that you’re going to place inside the goodie bag, be sure they are things that kids will appreciate.

9. To keep the memory of the celebration forever, prepare your trusty camera and try to assign someone to take pictures of the event.

10. Always remember that during the karaoke party for kids there should be no pressures. If a kid is naturally shy don’t force him or her to sing however if no one is grabbing the microphone, you can jumpstart the celebration by singing a song first.

I was planning my daughter’s birthday party this year, I had invatations, balloons, party favors, decorations, games, I hired a clown, I had those bouncy rooms that kids love, and of course, the cake. I had the entire day planned..full of fun stuff for the kids to do. I spent the entire morning setting up my front yard with tables, decorations, and games. My guest finally started to arrive, and one of my friends little girls ask me, ” where do we get our Face Painted? I explained that I didn’t know how to paint faces. She was disapointed that I didn’t have a table set up to paint a butterfly on her cheek. Later that day, I was talking to her mother, my friend Kerry, and she told me about books they have that teaches you to paint faces. I went online after the party and ordered this book “Easy Face Painting. It did in fact teach me so many different ways to paint just about anything you could think of. I was shocked about how easy it was to learn. With the Step-by-Step instructions I can now paint faces like a pro! Im looking forward to my daughter’s party next year!! I will have a face painting table for the kids! I relized after I had ordered the face painting guide, that I could now host fund raisers, have awsome birthday parties, and even help my friends children with their Halloween costumes! Kerry, my friend, told me that some people even sit up a table at flea markets and paint children’s faces during the summertime. I think that anyone with children should order this book because it does come in very handy! I just know that next year my kid’s birthday patries will be the hit of our neighborhood!

Because the 18th birthday is such a landmark in a young person’s life, making it an unforgettable is something both the teen and parent will want. Guardians know the maturity level of their own children best, so they can help decide a suitable party venue or activity. Letting the parental hold untie at this point of time in a child’s life is significant; select more adult-like activities that come with responsibilities for the soon-to-be 18-year old. Here are some ideas and tips:

Concerts/Sports GameA well-known band or celebrity that your child adores may be putting a concert on in a location near your home. Buy a ticket for your child and his/her closest friend or two.

Send your child to a local professional, college, or amateur sports games as part of the party. Whether she/he loves hockey, basketball, baseball or football, pick up a set of group tickets and head to the game.

Amusement Parks/TripsStaying in a city or within driving distance to a local amusement park can be perfect for an 18th birthday. An all-day trip at a water park or theme park can be tons of fun for your child and his/her mates. Make sure anyone invited understands the expenses involved (paying for tickets/food/souvenirs) and what you are providing.

If you are arranging a trip that falls around the 18th birthday, have your child choose a explicit site he/she would like to visit. Alternately, your child could invite a buddy to spend time with during the trip.

Co-Ed PartyAllowing your child to host a co-ed party can be an ideal 18th birthday party idea, especially if you did not permit one for the sweet 16th party. This kind of party could be a parental-approved co-ed slumber party, or a huge dance party at a rented banquet hall or any other place. Whatever the location, be sure the parents of invited kids understand it will be for both sexes. Make sure you do drop in for some supervising.

18th Birthday Party TipsThe big milestone birthday like the 18th necessitates special attention. Even if you cannot afford to host an extravagant and large party, you should make it memorable for your loved one. Follow these simple tips to speed up the planning:

- Only host a party you can pay for. If your teen wants to do something luxurious, clarify to him/her that she/he will be expected to contribute to the party, if you choose to have it.- Provide supervision, but be calm. While an 18-year old is still a youngster, you should be able to check in and out of the party (or call their cell phones); continuous supervision may humiliate your teen.- Think twice before throwing a themed party without discussing with your child. Some teenagers feel they are too old for birthday party themes.- Set rules for your child and his/her friends (like curfew time) and make sure they are understood.

Finding birthday ideas for 18th birthday is as simple as asking your child what he/she wants to do, but coming up with a truly unforgettable bash can take a bit of preparation and planning. Let your child help and the birthday will be glorious.

Birthday party ideas for kids; the choices are endless, but pulling it off without breaking a sweat, well that’s an art. The secret to success is a combination of enthusiasm and thoughtful planning. Follow these 10 steps and you will get it right from the start.

10 Steps to a Successful Party

Step 1

The first and most essential step when organising a birthday party is as simple as making a list. Lay out your ideas, what you would be prepared to do, ideas for a theme, available dates, location, entertainment, refreshments etc.

Step 2

Now you have a plan, consult your party child. Your well thought out list gives them the wonderful opportunity to choose what they would like based on the options you have already thought through, and also ensures you don’t end up with pony rides in your third floor apartment after telling them it’s their special day and they should ell you what they want, oops, never do that!

Step 3

Now you have your plan, and if you have decided on professional entertainment you will need to book at least 4 weeks in advance. Don’t forget though, Uncle Jimmy could make a wonderful clown.

Step 4

Get a ‘Party Tub’, those large plastic ones with lids are perfect. This is where you can store all your essential party supplies. Keeping your leftover supplies there will mean you always have something for the next party, and you child will love the fun of adding something to it each week.Step 5

Decide on the number of kiddies you can handle, then ask you child who they would like to invite.

Step 6

Don’t forget the BFF, what child doesn’t want their best friend by their side on such an auspicious occasion. Be prepared to change the date to ensure they can attend.

Step 7

It’s another list, think before baking. Now you know how many mouths to feed you start planning refreshments, what is non perishable can go in the tub.

Step 8

Get out those invitations at least 2 weeks before the day. Remember the RSVP with a reply date, phone number and name of the person to speak to.

Step 9

One of the most overlooked birthday party ideas for kids is that it’s okay to delegate. Being the Mum doesn’t mean you have to do everything, but you do have to make sure everything is taken care of. So exercise this idea by asking a parent or two to stay and help, designate tasks, such as serving food, or managing the games, then you can focus on everything running smoothly.

Step 10

Plan a schedule of events before the guests arrive, but don’t worry if it all goes hay wire, birthday parties are meant to be a little crazy, so go with it, have fun and just enjoy them while they’re young.

Magic is a performance art that combines physical dexterity, charisma, comedy, misdirection, and conversation to deceive and amaze an audience.

Because of the secrecy inherent in magic it can be a difficult subject to research and learn. Magicians are required to take an oath promising not to reveal the secrets of their art to anyone who has not taken the same oath. This has traditionally made magic a difficult are to break in to.

Great magicians spend years or decades perfecting their art and overnight success for a magician is all but unheard of. However, today it is easier than ever for the aspiring magician to acquire research materials, meet other magicians, and become great magicians themselves.

The first stop any new magician should take on his path to mastery of the unknown is a dark and mysterious place – the local library. The library likely houses more books on the art of magic than any other place in town, and they are all free for your use. Many libraries have excellent DVD collections as well. Instead of spending all your money on new tricks and fancy DVD box sets, go to the library and take out a whole volume of books on magic for free. Dai Vernon, one of the greatest sleight of hand magicians of all time, had memorized “The Expert at the Card Table” by the time he was thirteen.

Meeting other magicians is an important aspect of becoming one yourself. Knowing other magicians will give you access to more information and tricks, trusted peers to practice in front of, and people to creatively brainstorm and work through tricks with. There are many places you can go to meet other magicians. They can almost always be found at the local magic shop. There are also magic clubs that have chapters all over the world. In America the major organizations are SAM (Society of American Magicians) and IBM (International Brotherhood of Magicians). In Los Angeles the Academy of Magic is contained in Magic Castle, a place you definitely want to be if you are an aspiring magician in LA. In England they have The Magic Circle and in Austria they have the Magic Club of Vienna. It’s pretty likely there is a magic club by you.

Magic conventions are another option for meeting fellow magicians and sharing ideas. Magic conventions can be found all over the world, and you can often find out about them through the local magic club. Hundreds or thousands of magicians attend and they are a great way to learn about new tricks, get pointers or try to network.

The path to becoming a magician is a long and arduous one. By focusing on books and meeting other magicians as you get your start a lot of money can be saved. Many magicians start by going out and buying the latest tricks, but these can cost up to 0 for one trick. By reading books and talking to other magicians you can learn with only the use of a deck of cards or household objects. When it comes time to choose and purchase tricks the knowledge you have already gained will be indispensible.
