Cinderella Birthday Party Ideas

Article by Cynthia Marcano

Its inevitable that a princess party is in the future of most parents with a little girl. However with so many options, how do you choose which princess? How about Cinderella? Cinderella is by far the most well known Disney Princess. Her beautiful dress and happily ever after moment are the dreams of most little girls. Making those dreams a reality for your little princess is almost fairy dust easy.

Invitations

Idea #1

In honor of a royal proclamation send a scroll invitation. Find scroll paper clipart online and print party information in the blank area of the scroll. At each corner add a different image.

Idea #2

Print the party information onto cardstock. Try to fit 2 invitations onto one piece of cardstock if possible. Leave a half inch of border around each individual invitation for cutting. Cut each invitation out carefully. Save as much of the border around each invitation as possible. Find Cinderella clip art online (preferrably clip art that has no background image). Print the clip art on translucent or vellum paper, again printing 2 Cinderella images on each piece of vellum. Be sure to size the Cinderella clip art to cover the invitation an leaving a half inch border all around. Carefully cut the printed Cinderella images the same size of the already cut invitations. The Cinderella images should lay on top the invitations and measure exactly. Using decal scissors cut a decorative border around both vellum and cardstock. Punch two small holes at the top of the invitation. Lace riboon through both holes from the bottom and tie a bow on the front. Use decorative ribbon or ribbon that matches party supplies. Your finished product should be an invitation of Cinderella on top that can be lifted to reveal the party information.

Decorating Ideas

Cinderella party supplies are readily available at most party stores and online, but a little originality will set your royal affair apart from the rest. Cinderella’s signature colors are sky blue or ciel and white. Use these colors for crepe and balloon decor. Recreate the Clock Tower using a long piece of cardboard or posterboard. (Use online images or the movie for reference). Paint a clock face at the top and don’t forget to set the time to midnight.

Your princess will need her royal coach, so have a few pumpkins handy for transformation. If your party is during harvest time, visit the pumpkin patch and pick a few pumpkins to display in your party area. Try to get the pumpkins with the vines. Its not likely that your local grocery store won’t have pumpkins. If your party isn’t during harvest, your local craft store should have faux pumpkins and gourds. Jazz up with some fairy dust (fine glitter) for an extra touch.

Menu Ideas

Twelve O’ Clock Pizza – Using a regular round pizza arrange (or have arranged) the toppings to simulate the hands of a clock. Be sure the pepperoni clock is striking twelve.

Pretty Blue Dress Drink – combine any clear soda with any blue colored kool aid drink. If you don’t like to give the kids soda, the blue kool aid drink alone works too.

Cheese Tray – Cinderella’s little mouse friends may not be invited to this party, but you can honor their heroic efforts with a cheese tray they would love!

Pumpkin Dip – This sweet dip makes an ultra cute centerpiece. Find a simple pumpkin dip recipe online. Serve dip in a hollowed out pumpkin. You can add stickers or paint a design to the outside of the pumpkin to add flare. Allow pumpkin to dry before adding dip. Serve with graham or cinnamon graham crackers.

Party Game Ideas

Thats My Shoe! – Hide several shoes around the party area. Whoever finds the most shoes wins. You can purchase shoes at a local thrift store.

Kiss The Frog – similar to Pin the tail on the donkey, whoever places the lips closes to the frogs mouth gets her prince!

Fairy Godmother Makeover – purchase Cinderella dresses for the girls (if there are boys, purchase knight or prince attire) and get them ready for the ball. Be sure to take before and after photos for each child. You can find princess party dresses sold in bulk online.

Whatever you decide to do, ask the Princess birthday girl what she thinks will be a hit with her and her friends. A princess knows what she wants! The royal ball is sure to be an enchanting and majestic affair.

Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party Ideas

Article by Victor Epand

Candle lighting is when the young lady calls up those girls most important to her to light a candle. Usually, she writes a paragraph about each and reads it, then calls them up to the dance floor usually where a table sits with, in this case, 14 candles (one for her). The theme candle lighting to go with the party. For instance, if it’s an Oscar theme, we write it like an Academy Awards show and give each person a mini film statue, etc.

And speaking of awards…a Hollywood theme as a coming out is sophisticated (they dress up and nicely, too) as well as young and fun. It’s an easy theme to pull through.

Themes:

I tried to focus on your daughter’s interests as well as the broad age group of those attending. The following might work as some possible ideas for your party. A 1950′s Party- invite guests over for a sock hop themed party- poodle skirts, leather jackets, 1950′s and early 1960′s music (Time Life has a great collection you can order).

Be sure to serve ice cream sodas for dessert! You can also turn your back yard in to a big screen movie theater (reminiscent of a drive-in)by renting a large screen and Proxima projector from your local equipment store and show the movie “Greece” or “American Graffiti”. Have stacks of blankets for your guests to sit on out in the lawn and lots of popcorn, warm pretzels, and candy, for everyone.

Invitation Ideas:

16 Candles Make a Lovely Surprise! Please join us in surprising _______ as she turns Sweet 16!

1950′s Style! Location (i.e. Smith’s Sock Hop Central)

Date, Time, RSVP

Las Vegas Theme Party- Play off the “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” slogan. There is a great web site to visit and download/purchase things from, Dice, chips, cards, available at your local party store (or on line) could have a lot of different items and paper plates, napkins, etc, for you to decorate with around this them. You could go two different directions here.

Some kind of casino night, like “play gambling”. You can set things up several different ways. This can be researched on line by searching casino party events. The main focus is playing the games (craps, poker, black jack) and then you can have prizes for the most fruitful winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place).

Since your daughter likes Sinatra and classic movies, you could have a Rat Pack themed party. After the party has simmering down, those interested could stay and watch the original 1960′s or the 2001 version of “Ocean’s Eleven”. Another thing would be if a few of the girls want to have a sleep over after the main party is over, make it a double feature and watch “Ocean’s Twelve” too. Music played at the party could be from any of the original rat pack members- Sammy, Frank, or Judy Garland.

Vegas Party Invitation Ideas:

What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

Shhhh…? Mums the word! ________________ turns 16! The party’s almost begun

So, please come and join us for some drinks, munchies, and fun!

Location, Date, Time, RSVP

These are pretty general, but just the same, they might help to get your creative juices flowing. Music, food, and dress are easily matched with the following.

General Themes:

Mardi gras, roaring 20′s, Hippies/Flower Power, Scavenger Hunt- separate guests into teams. Clues can be based upon different stages in your daughter’s life. Karaoke/American Idol competition, Outdoor Movie (as described above with out the 1950′s theme), Kiddy Party- some things you are never too old for. Pull out all of the kids’ favorites, egg on a spoon races, water balloon fights, pin the tail on the donkey, bobbing for apples, dropping the clothes pins in the Mason jar. Such can be fun for all ages and bring back some great childhood memories for everyone.

How To Choose a Theme for Your Kids Birthday Party

Article by Lori MacInnes

Kids Party Themes are fun. There’s no getting away from it. Choosing the theme for your kids party, though, can be a headache. There are literally thousands of theme ideas to choose from. So how do you do it?

Take the lead from the birthday child. Ask the right questions, and you will come up with the right answers. The first thing to do is to ask the child about their current likes and dislikes. Kids can be fickle, and so what they just adored last year, may not necessarily be the same this year. Think about their hobbies, and activities. Do they have a passion for a certain sport, or do they adore ballet? Do they love arts and crafts? Do they have a favorite TV show that they never miss? All these areas can give you ideas for ideal party themes that will be ideally suited to your child.

Once you have your theme, think about how you will follow this through the party. Anything from the invitations, decorations, food, costumes, games, party favors and of course the birthday cake, can be tailored to reflect the theme. Just use your imagination, and decide where the themeing fits best for your party.

Themeing doesn’t have to be expensive. For example, if you choose a character as your theme, it doesn’t mean that absolutely everything has to have that character on it. You could choose a co-ordinating color and use this for balloons, plates, drinking straws and table covering, then add character napkins and cups to add the theme and bring the look together. This not only looks good, but is more cost effective than having characters on everything, as plain tableware is usually cheaper.

Design your games to reflect your theme. Take old favorites and put a spin on them to make them in keeping with your party. For example, if you are having a Princess Party, play Pin the Crown on the Princess, or for a Zoo Party, play Pin the Tail on the Zebra. A themed birthday cake is an excellent finishing touch. Make your own, or check out the fabulous options at your local store, or a custom cake maker.

As always, decide how much you are going to spend on your party, and keep within your budget. Plan in advance and shop around for bargains. The internet is an easy way to find party bargains. Also keep an eye on local stores for sales and special offers.
